Renault sales will go beyond the 30,000-unit mark this year and will most likely reach a level of 32,000 sold units, a volume corresponding to an increase by almost 40% from last year's level, according to the importer.
"This year, we will post an increase of around 40% for Renault sales, namely around 32,000 units, whereas start-of-the-year estimates pointed to less than 30,000 units," stated Jacques Daniel, commercial manager for Renault, Nissan brands.
Renault Romania in the first 10 months of this year saw its sales advance by 40.2% from the same period of last year, to 26,600 units.
The main Renault models that drove French carmaker's growth were Megane Sedan and Clio III. They saw sales double during January-October period from the similar period of 2006.
In October, Renault car sales hit the level of 2,676 units, up 17.9% from October 2006.
"In terms of forecasts for next year, we plan to keep sales at a level of above 30,000 units under current market conditions. The new models to be launched and the REMAT programme, which this year accounted for almost 5% of the market, will also be of great importance," Daniel said.
The most important launch by Renault in 2008 will be the new generation of Laguna, the medium-class model to be presented domestically next March.
The models due to be launched in 2008 were presented at the Bucharest International Auto Show.
The second important launch will be that of the new Koleos SUV, to be presented on the domestic market at the middle of next year.
Turnover Renault-Nissan Romania generated this year from car sales alone will exceed 486m euros, considering over 30,000 Renault units, with an average price of 14,000 euros, and 3,000 Nissan models with an average price of 22,000 euros, will be sold.
In overall turnover, after-sales services account for approximately 10%, according to Renault-Nissan representatives.
At present, Renault network includes 52 sales points belonging to around 39 dealers, with Renault expecting a number of around 4 new dealers to be added next year. "In the following period, we want expansion to happen at dealer level and not necessarily in terms of the number of dealers," said Daniel.
