Renault expects infrastructure for electric cars from Romania

Renault Romania is set to launch, in 2012, the first electricalengine car model on the domestic market, should it succeed inimplementing the infrastructure needed for this type of cars."We're in talks with the representatives of local communities ofbig Romanian cities for the implementation of an infrastructureneeded for electrical cars," said Fabrice Cambolive, commercialmanager with Renault in Romania, without providing further detailsregarding these partnerships or the targeted cities. The firstRenault electrical engine to be launched in Romania is Fluence EZ,presented as a concept during this year's Car Show of Frankfurt.The French group's representatives specified the model would have aprice of around 13,000 euros in Romania, but provided no details onthe price of the electrical version. The first electrical car to besold domestically is Mitsubishi i-MiEV, to be launched in 2010 andto probably cost around 30,000 euros, three times more than acommon model. Compared with a petrol or diesel engine car,operating costs are up to five times lower in the case of anelectric car.
