The ranking of the largest players on the general insurance and life insurance market went through major changes in the first nine months of this year. In the general insurance sector, Asirom continued to lose ground, and fell from second to fourth place, while Omniasig and BCR Asigurari (BCR Insurance), which saw significant turnover increases, climbed to second and third place respectively. Unexpected changes also occurred in the ranking of the biggest life insurance companies. Players such as Asiban and BCR Asigurari de Viata (BCR Life Insurance) climbed in the ranking, while Aviva and Grawe dropped several places. Allianz-Tiriac remains the leader of the general insurance market, with business worth 257 million euros, up 20% against the same time last year. Along with the company's turnover increase, the company's claim settlement rate also increased, from 77% in the first three quarters of 2006, to 82% at the end of September this year, while Allianz-Tiriac registered the highest claim settlement rate among the subsidiaries of the German group Allianz.
