Prutul: 39m-euro business bolstered by retail expansion

Prutul, a Galati-based company and producer of vegetable oils Picasol, Spornic and Prutul, posted a 39 million-euro turnover in the first nine months of this year, up 63% against the same time last year, when the company reported sales worth 24 million euros. According to company representatives, this performance was prompted by the improved distribution of Spornic, after international store networks began stocking the brand. Growth was also aided by the expansion of international networks that already stocked the brand. "Spornic oil is the catalyst for this growth, and registered an around 10% market share in September and a 47% sales increase in the first nine months of this year against the same time last year," said Mirela Olarescu, the company's marketing manager. This year, Prutul invested in the diversification of the Spornic range with Spornic Masline (olive oil) and Spornic Extravirgin (which will be launched this month).
