Prista Oil: New cars set the bar higher for lubricant market

01.07.2008, 19:59 9

Bulgarian lubricant manufacturer Prista Oil, present on the local market for around 10 years, believes the presence of car manufacturers in Romania, as well as the rise of the import market have been the main reasons driving up the quality of lubricants on the local market. "The lubricant market saw a fast rise over the last few years, mainly seeing quality improve. The presence of the Renault manufacturer and the rise in automotive imports prompted the use of higher-quality lubricants, from a higher price segment," said Plamen Bobokov, CEO of Prista Oil. According to Prista Oil representatives, the structure of the lubricant market in Romania differs from that of the Bulgarian market, with the overall volume of sales, estimated at 100,000 tonnes in 2008, to be distributed evenly among the industrial and the automotive sector. In Bulgaria, around 60% of lubricant sales, which accounts for around 30,000 tonnes, are used in the industrial sector, while the rest goes to the transport sector.
