Porsche Romania sells over 14,200 cars

Porsche Romania, the leading car importer on the domestic market, sold more than 14,200 cars in the first ten months of this year, close to its full-year sales figures for 2003.



The company sold more than 1,800 cars last month, company representatives announced, making it its best month since the company was established six years ago.



Porsche Romania imports Audi, Porsche, Seat, Skoda and Volkswagen. Its best-selling brands in the first ten months were Skoda, for which sales were in excess of 6,100 vehicles and Volkswagen with 4,900 vehicles. Seat ranked third with sales of 1,200 vehicles, while the premium brands, Audi and Porsche, took up the bottom two positions in terms of sales. The two premium German brands have recently, or will soon launch new models: the new Porsche Boxter and Boxter S became available on the Romanian market last month; while the new Audi A4, the competitor to the Volkswagen Passat, the Opel Vectra and the Mercedes C-Klasse will be officially launched in Romania this month.



Porsche Romania's turnover was 245 million euros last year, making it the market leader among importers in Romania. Company representatives have said this years sales will top 16,000 vehicles. The largest company on the market in terms of turnover is Automobile Dacia Pitesti thanks to its 390 million euros.



The best-selling imported brands in Romania in the first nine months this year were the French brands Renault and Peugeot. Skoda and Volkswagen rank third and fourth, respectively, in terms of top selling imported vehicles.
