Porsche Broker, the insurance broker of car importer Porsche, handled insurance policies worth 167 million RON (50 million euros) last year. Porsche is vying for the top position on the market with Marsh, the local subsidiary of the largest global insurance broker. Porsche intends to expand its activity in insurance by opening an insurance company in the second half of this year. It will most likely be a subsidiary of the parent company in Austria, Porsche Versicherung, which will be operating on the local market based on the free movement of goods. The company will specialise in comprehensive insurance, with the sales target for 2009, its first year in business, standing at 10,000 policies.
