Orange revenues up 24%, to 1.234bn euros

The revenues of Orange Romania, the largest mobile telephony operator on the local market climbed by 24.3% last year against 2006, to 1.234 billion euros, after the growth rate was calculated on a comparable basis, according to the company's owner, France Telecom. In 2006, Orange posted revenues worth 1.082 billion euros, 25.6% higher than in 2005. The increase in revenue came amid an increase in the number of clients by 22%, to 9.813 million, and amid an increase in the average monthly revenue per user by 4.9%, on a comparable basis, to 10.8 euros. The largest number of clients, over 500,000, was added in the fourth quarter of the year. The operator saw a significant increase on the segment of prepaid phone cards. Orange ended the year with a 43.2% market share, down 2.8% against the end of 2006, according to the same source. Orange's rivals are Vodafone, Cosmote, Telemobil (Zapp) and RCS&RDS (DigiMobil).
