Orange revenues, up 24% in H1, to 578m euros

Revenues generated by mobile telephone operator Orange Romania in the first half of this year soared by 24.3% against the same time last year, reaching 578m euros, amid an increase in the number of customers to 8.57 million, from 7.21 million registered in June 2006. The company maintained last year's growth rate, with first-half revenues advancing at the same level of 24.3%. The number of customers increased during the second quarter by around 300,000, from 8.271 million to 8.572 million. In mid-year, Orange had 8.57 million customers, while its rival, Vodafone, reported 8.223 million customers. Orange posted Q2 revenues standing at 295 million euros, up 20% against the April-June 2006 period. The average revenue per user (ARPU) calculated for the past 12 months (June 2006-June 2007) amounted to 136 euros during the second quarter, compared with 137 euros in the first 3 months of 2007. "We are very satisfied with the financial performances we registered during this first-half. Orange Romania is a market leader both in terms of the number of customers and also revenues," said Richard Moat, CEO of Orange Romania. As regards customers for broadband Internet services, figures increased to 481,000 on June 30, from 430,000 in March. The number of Orange Romania customers saw one of the strongest growth rates for the France Telecom group, the main shareholder of the company.
