Online reservations boost Eximtur business

03.08.2004, 00:00 8

Cluj-based travel agency Eximtur has made 143bn ROL (3.6 million euro) revenues from selling packages holidays at the Romanian seaside in the six months ending June 2004, compared with the 90bn ROL (2.4 million euros) made last season. The increase was due, agency representatives say, to the introduction of an online reservation system. "Our goal is to double revenues from domestic tourism this season compared with last season," stated Lucia Morariu, Eximtur Cluj CEO, who is also the chairperson of the National Association of Travel Agencies (ANAT). The agency plans to attain a full-year turnover of 15 million euros, that is 50% higher than in 2003, when it stood at 10 million euros. ZF

Aerostar sees net income nose-dive

Aeronautics group Aerostar Bacau logged 10.8bn ROL (260,000 euro) net profit in the first half, 54% lower than in the same period of 2003. If expressed in euros, the profit actually shrank by almost 60%. The main contributor to this decline in profits was the company's operations, the net income of which was almost four times lower at the end of June 2004 than at the end of H1, 2003. The second quarter contributed 90% to the 10.8bn ROL profits, as the company had logged a mere one billion ROL in profit for January, February and March. Aerostar is a player in the aeronautics and military equipment industry. It makes, repairs and upgrades aircrafts and sub-assemblies, as well as containers for liquefied petroleum gas. ZF
