The Word Bank's (WB) bond issue has driven sales by foreign investors on the capital market to a record high in September, with another record being the amount of foreign capital outflows from brokers' accounts. Aside from WB's bonds in RON worth 525 million RON (150 million euros), foreigners were net buyers of shares, with acquisitions worth 66.75 million euros, 10.5 million euros higher than sales, after sales had exceeded acquisitions in July and August. If the value of bonds is included, foreigners' sales totalled 205.5 million euros, 104 million euros more than acquisitions. At the same time, capital outflows stood at 187.6 million euros, 117.3 million more than money brought by foreigners into brokers' accounts. Net foreign acquisitions made last month confirm the return of the upward trend on the market that started mid-September and was generated by the rise in purchases made by foreign investors, in response to the positive country report by the European Commission, which confirmed Romania's integration into the EU would happen on January 1.
