New Yorker, one of the largest German clothing retailers, will open another two stores outside Bucharest this year, while 2009 will see the company tap into the Bucharest market. "In 2008, we will open another store in Oradea and one in a city in the Eastern part of Romania, while next year we will also expand into Bucharest, with at least two stores," Mihai Sindrilaru, head of New Yorker's operations in Romania, told ZF. At present, the company has four stores opened in Romania, in Cluj, Sibiu, Targu-Mures and Bacau, while the latest store, which covers 930 square metres, was opened at the end of last week. "The store has around 20,000 clothing items that target both male and female clients. The majority of products are sports and casual clothing, but we also retail underwear, which makes up 20% of our offer, as well as accessories - 10%," added Sindrilaru. New Yorker has so far chosen to display its products in malls, but it would not refuse offers for stand-alone stores.
