Microsoft Romania wants Windows 7 to match Vista’s market share in nine months

The Windows 7 operating system, launched by Microsoft on October22nd, could reach a 19% market share within the next nine months,the current share of the Vista OS, Calin Tatomir (photo), generalmanager of Microsoft Romania, said on Thursday. "We are hoping toreach this share within the next nine months and even exceed it,"Tatomir said. In June, Tatomir said the operating system thatdominates the Romanian market, with an around 50% share, is the XPversion, and that Windows 7 would sell 3-4 times better than Vistaand account for 70-80% of the market. Microsoft launched theWindows 7 operating system in 12 languages globally on October22nd. According to Microsoft data, the trial version of Windows 7was downloaded by almost 100,000 users in Romania. The Romanianbusiness of the producer of the Windows operating system climbed by34.4% last year, to 109.9 million RON (29.8 million euros), and itsnet profit rose 3.2%, to 19.2 million RON (5.2 million euros),according to data sent by the company to the Ministry of Finance.US-based Microsoft is the world's biggest software applicationsproducer.
