MAN: Truck market will stabilise at around 20,000 units

16.05.2008, 21:01 12

The market of over 6-tonne trucks, estimated at 12,000 - 13,000 units last year, according to representatives of MHS Truck & Bus - importer of the MAN brand on the local market, will reach maturity in around 5-6 years, when it will see annual sales of 20,000 units. "20,000 unit sales will correspond to a 10-15% growth rate, which is considered normal on a developed market. However, it all depends on the infrastructure, the banks and the real estate market, whilst the high prices of real estate could affect the number of truck orders," said George Geadau, sales manager of MHS Truck & Bus. Currently, Romania is witnessing the highest growth rate in Central and Eastern Europe on the truck segment, by almost 100%. The company expects a 240 million-euro turnover for this year, double compared with last year, if 2,500 trucks are sold. In the first four months of the year, the company sold 1,300 trucks, of which 650 have already been delivered, which have a cumulated value of 80 million euros.
