Leasing and credit companies get 68m euros from shareholders in six months

Leasing and consumer loan companies received 68 million euros from their shareholders in the last six months for which data from the Romanian Trade Registry (ONRC) are available, i.e. from October 2008 to March 2009. During this period, the biggest capital increase was performed by consumer loan company Provident Financial, held by British financial group International Personal Finance. In November last year Provident boosted its capital by 17.4 million euros, according to ONRC data, in order to cover operational losses recorded in 2007 and 2008. Provident grants small-value home loans, generally of up to 3,000 RON. Last year the company granted credits worth 42 million euros, three times as much as in 2007. The second largest capital increase was performed by Romstal Leasing, which ranked ninth last year on the leasing market. Romstal Leasing is held by Belgian group KBC, which boosted the company's capital by over 16.1 million euros in February this year. Ranking third among capital increases conducted in the last six months is credit company ING Commercial Finance, which benefited from a 6.2 million-euro capital contribution from its majority shareholder in January.
