Moaro Trading, the operator of the Ikea franchise in Romania, intends to open another two or three stores on the Romanian market in the next five years, with the network to expand to eight outlets at the most, stated one of the company's shareholders, Michael Lloyd, yesterday. "We intend to open two or three stores in Romania in the next five years and optimistically we will reach a number of seven or eight outlets located in the big cities," Lloyd told a conference organised for the opening of the first Ikea store in Romania, located in Bucharest. Last week, company representatives said Ikea would decide whether to open a new store in Romania based on the results of the new commercial centre. The outlet is operated through a franchise system by Moaro Trading, on the basis of the agreement with Inter Ikea Systems BV, the company that manages the worldwide Ikea franchise.
