Ice cream producer Alpin targets 25% market share

Sebes-based ice cream producer Alpin, with turnover estimated at 15 million euros (54 million RON) for this year, targets an increase in its market share, from 15-17% to 25% in the coming 2-3 years. The company has budgeted investments worth 4 million euros in logistics for this year, which could sustain the 12% sales increase estimated for 2008. "2007 brought us a 26% increase in ice cream sales compared with those witnessed in 2006. In 2007, Alpin 57 Lux SRL saw a 48 million-RON (14.4 3 million-euro) turnover and 4.5 million RON (1.3 million-euro profit)," said Ioan Istrate, general manager and owner of Alpin 57 Lux. The company also operates on the segments of frozen pastry and bakery products with the RomCh?rie brand. Set up in 1994, the company, based in Sebes (Alba county) has a production capacity of 50 tonnes a day, while the plant functions for seven months a year due to the seasonal nature of the products, according to data provided by Alpin last year.
