Hidroconstructia, the biggest construction company on the local market, posted a 210 million-euro turnover last year, up almost 30% against the level seen in 2005, according to the companyes preliminary data. The biggest share in last yeares turnover was accounted for by hydropower projects, as well as by hydrotechical projects, with their total value standing at over 120 million euros, according to company representatives. Among the biggest works conducted last year by Hidroconstructia are the repair works for sewage networks in Craiova and Arad county. This year, the company will start the modernisation of the sewage system in Bacau, as well as the construction of a water purifying station in a small town near Petrosani, as the subcontractor of Wabag. Hidroconstructia intends to enter a consortium of Romanian companies specialised in hydrotechnic works, with the deadline for the establishment of the group being estimated as May. At the end of last year, ten Romanian construction firms set up a consortium in order to be able to participate in the big infrastructure projects financed with European funds. Hidroconstructia took part in the negotiations, but later dropped out from the project.
