Marius Persinaru, 45, general manager of Xerox Romania & Moldova, the subsidiary of one of the largest suppliers of printers and copiers in the world, has been promoted to operational vice-president of a regional division of the American group. As vice-president, Persinaru will coordinate Xerox operations in the eastern area of emerging countries, which means an around 1.5 billion-dollar business and around 100 countries. In 2008, Xerox's business on the emerging markets, which include over 140 countries outside the USA, Canada, Western Europe, Japan and the Pacific Rim exceeded 2.3 billion dollars. Among the markets he will coordinate are Africa, Central and Eastern Europe, Israel, Turkey, Russia, the Middle East and India. "My main responsibilities will be to define strategies for each market and oversee their implementation," Marius Persinaru told ZF. Persinaru has coordinated Xerox's local operations over the last five years, being one of the best known managers in the local IT industry. Xerox's revenues in Romania and Moldova reached over 72 million dollars in 2008, up 18% on the previous year, amid a focus of the business on document management services and on high-capacity all-in-one laser printers. "In Romania we managed to build a very stable organisation with an extremely low personnel turnover, especially as far as key staff is concerned. I think this counted the most when the job was offered to me," Persinaru added.
