Head of Air France KLM: Airline barometer indicates "bad weather"

Alexandru Dobrescu, general manager of Air France KLM, whichoperates daily flights to Paris and Amsterdam, says business on theRomanian market was up by just 5% this year and that the barometerstill points to "bad weather" as opposed to two years ago, when thecompany posted 20% turnover rises. "It is still hard to predictwhat will happen on the market," said Alexandru Dobrescu, who tookover as general manager of Air France KLM in 2007, after the twoairlines merged their Romanian operations, as part of theinternational integration process conducted after the 2004merger.
"Whilst in 2007-2008, when the company posted two-digit growth, wecould buy a champagne per every aeroplane ticket sold, now webarely manage to buy a beer," said Alexandru Dobrescu, who runs anover 50 million-euro business. Air France KLM operates five flightsper day to Paris, two of which under code-share with Tarom, andfour daily flights to Amsterdam.
