Foreigners generate half of Ibis Constanta's revenues

27.06.2007, 18:34 10

The Constanta-based Ibis hotel, part of the Continental chain, run under a management contract by the French at Accor, estimates revenues of 1.2 million euros, up 20% against the same time last year, amid a 90% occupancy rate registered in June, July and August. Last year, the hotel had a slightly lower occupancy rate, of around 82.5%. "I predict there will be an at least 10% decline in the number of tourists in Romanian resorts this year against 2006. The percentage of foreign tourists accommodated in the Ibis hotel rose from 50% in 2006, to 55% in 2007, with Italians accounting for the majority of foreign clients, followed by Germans, Americans and French," stated Calin Ilie, general manager of the hotel. According to the Ibis representative, the occupancy rate for this year is predicted to stand at 70%, primarily due to clients from the business travel segment. "It is clear that Mamaia is the best prepared resort for the summer season, but for us, the fact that our hotel is situated in the centre of the city is an advantage, since we are primarily a business hotel," added the representative of Constanta-based Ibis.
