Ford "made in Romania" unveiled in Geneva, production to start by yearend

The first Ford "made in Romania" was uncovered yesterday eveningin Geneva, ahead of the Geneva Motor Show, the biggest event in theEuropean industry this spring, with production to start by the endof this year at the Craiova plant.
The uncovering of the new model comes almost three and a half yearsafter the American company signed the privatisation contract withthe Romanian state in Frankfurt in 2007.
B-Max will replace the current Fusion, which has been manufacturedsince the beginning of the last decade, and will be in directcompetition with models such as Opel Meriva, Citroën C3 Picasso andRenault Modus. Ford Fusion was launched on the European market in2002 and is currently the "oldest" model in the American carmaker'srange.
B-Max production will amount to almost 150,000 units next year,with over 80% to be exported to European markets. Ford expects atleast 15,000-20,000 B-Max units to sell on the Romanian market.
