Fildas group, one of the major players on the local pharmaceutical market, has budgeted investments worth 10 million euros this year, aimed both at organic growth and retail acquisitions. "The main direction of development pursued by Fildas Trading in 2007 was the expansion of the distribution capacity for drugs used in the treatment of chronic diseases (diabetes and oncology) to drugstores, drugs which had been previously sold exclusively through hospitals. By focusing on products dedicated to hospitals, Fildas doubled its market share, which reached 9% over the course of last year," said Mihnea Drumea, the group's financial manager. Last year, the investment budget amounted to 12 million euros. Fildas is involved in pharmaceutical distribution, through Fildas Trading, and in retail, via the Catena drugstore network. In 2007, Fildas expanded its portfolio of suppliers, both in Romania and abroad, and moved its warehouses in Craiova, Sibiu, Timisoara and Brasov to warehouses with larger capacities. In Bucharest, the storage area of its warehouse was expanded by 2,000 square metres.
