Farmec Cluj, the biggest Romanian-held cosmetics producer posted 1.5 million euros in gross profit in the first half of this year, an increase of 36% against the same time last year, when it reached 1.1 million euros, as a result of higher production and sales. "Sales were driven by the new skin and body care products introduced on the market in that period, but also received a boost from a series of special offers after the launch of the revamped Farmec line," Mariana Sinitaru, marketing specialist of Farmec told ZF. The increase in daily costs for basic products did not influence demand for cosmetics, after the turnover of the producer based in Cluj-Napoca increased by 30% in the first six months of 2008, compared with the first half of last year and reached 11.7 million euros.
