Falcon Electronics: radar detector market could reach 9m euros

28.06.2007, 19:33 9

Falcon Electronics, one of the domestic market leaders of electronic equipment for vehicles, estimates that the market of radar detectors will reach 9 million euros this year, while the market of security systems for vehicles will increase by 20%. The company, which, according to its own estimates, holds a 75% market share on the radar detector segment, predicts the overall market will reach over 100,000 units and a total value of approximately 9 million euros this year, if assuming each detector retails for an average price of 90 euros. The company aims to sell 75,000 radar detectors, which would generate revenues of 6.7 million euros for this segment. Modular detectors (whose sensor is integrated in the front bumper of a vehicle) account for just 3% of detectors sold, as compared with 15% before the liberalisation of the market. "This is justified among other things by the cost involved in attaching a detector, which boosts its acquisition price," stated Cristina Vranceanu, Falcon Electronics representative.
