Eurolines turnover lower than estimates

25.10.2007, 19:06 7

Eurolines, the second largest player on the market of international passenger transport, saw business worth 22 million euros in the first nine months of the year, up 16% against last year, but below the 20% estimate anticipated for 2007. Coach ticket sales have the highest contribution to the group's turnover, and accounted for 42% of revenues, followed by airplane tickets, 34%, and travel services, 20%. Additionally, insurance, taxi and rent-a-car services contributed 4% to the annual turnover of the Eurolines group, which includes around 16 companies with various activities. "Initially, we predicted turnover worth 30 million euros this year, which accounts for a 20% rise against last year. The lower increase rate, registered after nine months, was prompted by our international transport operations," said Aurelia Fulger, general manager of Touring Europabus, the group's coach transport company. A delay in the launch of new routes was among the factors that contributed to the lower than expected turnover.
