Otelu Rosu-based steel mill Gavazzi Steel resumed operations yesterday after a two-year break, after having been rented by Ductil Steel SA Buzau, a wire manufacturer. "Our company rented the steel mill with the stated intention of upgrading it and reintegrating it into the industrial circuit. The entry of the Otelu Rosu steel plant into the Ductil Steel family is a natural completion of our manufacturing processes. Both of the over three million-euro investments made so far and the strategy to modernise the Otelu Rosu plant stand as proof of our confidence in its future, a future we want to be part of," said Mihai Anitei, Ductil Steel's chief executive. The Buzau-based company plans to produce about 25,000 tonnes of steel a month at Otelu Rosu. To this end, it has conducted an investment programme to make it operational again. Ductil Steel will provide a market for Otelu Rosu's output, considering that it uses precisely the products made by this plant. ZF
