The Cluj-based shareholders of Match Point, the largest producer of matches on the Romanian market, have acquired 50% of shares of the wine retailer Vinexpert, the leading player on the market, from businessman Daniel Guzu, founder of the varnish and paint business Fabryo (formerly Guzu Chim). A 10% stake was purchased by businessman Catalin Paduraru, who increased his stake to 50%. "We concluded this transaction because we wanted to expand in the West of the country, where we will open three stores next year. We also plan to open two stores in Bucharest," said Catalin Paduraru. The price of the transaction has not been disclosed, but Catalin Paduraru says it stood at less than one million euros. Investments that Vinexpert is to conduct with a view to expanding amount to around 0.5 million euros. Following this transaction, Match Point shareholders will handle Vinexpert's expansion in the Western part of the country, while the Bucharest expansion will be conducted by Catalin Paduraru. The Capital in fact accounts for 60% of the local wine market. Vinexpert intends to reach the 5 million-euro turnover mark within the next three years, against the 0.9 million euros reported last year.
