Crowne Plaza triples restaurant capacity after 3.5m-euro investment

Businessman George Copos, who owns seven hotels on the Romanianmarket through Ana Hotels, has opened a restaurant and a bar withinfive-star hotel Crowne Plaza in Bucharest, which has been renovatedin the wake of a 3.5 million-euro investment.
"Food & beverage revenues need to double, it's a "must", saidbusinessman George Copos, who last year made 6.2 million euros fromthe Crowne Plaza hotel.
The businessman's seven hotels, Athénée Palace Hilton, Crowne Plazain Bucharest, Europa and Astoria in Eforie, as well as Sportul,Bradul, and Poiana in Poiana Braşov mountain resort collected 25.5million euros in overall revenues last year, down 37% against theprevious year, and made a 230,000-euro profit, according to TradeRegistry data and statements from the businessman.
Following Copos's investment in five-star hotel Crowne Plaza, thehotel's restaurants have moved from a seating capacity of 100 tonearly three times as much, according to data from the hotel'sofficials and from ZF calculations. The food& beverage segmentfetches the hotel half its annual revenues, i.e. around 3 millioneuros, according to ZF calculations.
