Crowne Plaza: 100-room expansion

Bucharest's Crowne Plaza hotel, controlled by businessman George Copos, will expand by 100 rooms, with works scheduled to begin next year, and finish in 5 years, according to the hotel's sales and marketing manager, Mioara Gheorghe. The 5-star hotel currently has 164 rooms. Crowne Plaza officials did not wish to specify the value of the investment, however, the construction costs involved for a room on the hotel market ranges between 140,000 euros and 180,000 euros. "The new hotel wing will have 100 rooms, with construction due to start next year and finish in five years. The investment entails the modernisation of the hotel's facilities, a process that will start this year. This year, expansion works on the hotel's kitchen will be finished, after work started last year with investments worth around 2 million euros," said Mioara Gheorghe.
