CMB Travel sees $5m business

15.04.2003, 00:00 9

Travel agency CMB Travel Bucharest expects to post at least five million dollars in turnover this year, after the 129bn ROL (nearly $4 million) logged last year, general manager Cristian Mihai Balcescu said. The estimate is based on anticipating minimal effects of the war in Iraq on the Romanian market, but also on the development of new touristic products. The company in 2002 launched three new special programmes aimed at individualised market niches. Demand from clients led to an improvement in these programmes by including more information and new destinations. "When we first launched the three programmes last year we were hoping for the sales to double, but they were actually four times higher compared with the year-ago period," Balcescu said. "We had 12,000 tourists in 2002, and estimate we'll attract 15,000 this year, although I for one hope to see 25,000-30,000 tourists," Balcescu added. CMB Travel was established in 1998 and has become both producer and provider of touristic services. Its services include selling airline tickets, organising packaged offers, either individual or for groups for 120 destinations abroad etc. ZF
