CFR Marfa buys 100 cars from Romvag

04.01.2005, 00:00 6

Railway freight carrier CFR Marfa will buy 100 new train cars in leasing from Romvag Caracal. The contract is worth 5.5 million euros. The contract was awarded at the end of last year following a tender organised through the Romanian Commodities Exchange (BRM). The head of the Trades Bureau of the Romanian Commodities Exchange Constantin Costaforu said the deal made by CFR Marfa was the biggest registered at the end of last year, given that the contracts concluded on this exchange in the last three days of 2004 stood at 10 million dollars. CFR Marfa has a stock of 927 locomotives (either electric, diesel-electric or diesel-hydraulic), approximately 60,000 cars structured around 23 different series and operates two ferryboats. The Romanian Commodities Exchange was also used to hold tenders for the acquisition of commodities and for various works or pieces of equipment. ZF
