Cement market doubles against estimated value

08.11.2006, 18:31 10

The cement market grew by 20% in the first nine months of the year, doubling estimates made at the beginning of the year. Major players on the market say the fast-paced growth of cement consumption this year has been driven by extensive real estate projects and the continuation of infrastructure projects. The amount of cement sold this year could reach 7.3 million tonnes, while the total value of the sales will exceed 450 million euros as a result. "The increase in the cement market in 2006 will exceed initial estimates. In the first nine months, the market grew by about 20%, doubling against initial forecasts we made at the beginning of the year. This growth trend can be traced back to the midpoint of this year and has maintained during the autumn, as well," Mihai Rohan, general manager of Carpatcement Holding told ZF.
