Banca Carpatica in the first six months of this year made net profit worth 8.7 million RON (2.45 million euros), up less than 5% in RON from the similar period of last year. The bank's gross income registered a marginal decline from last year's first half, to 9.6 million RON (2.71 million euros). Carpatica managed to increase its assets by 27% in six months, to 1.17 billion RON (0.32 billion euros) at the end of June. Chairman Nicolae Hoanta underlines that the bank managed to grow faster than the market, as by midyear, it had exceeded the number of branches it had planned for the end of 2006. During the same first half, Carpatica also finalised the implementation of a centralised online IT system. In H1, Carpatica derived net income from interests worth a little over 30 million RON, 42% higher than the figure posted in the first half of last year. Revenues from commissions rose by 59%, to 23.7 million RON, while commission-related expenses totalled less than one million RON.
