Carlyle, attracted by high number of private entrepreneurs

27.08.2007, 18:19 18

Carlyle Group, one of the world's leading private equity fund managers, is attracted by the high growth potential of the domestic private investments market, with the high number of domestic private entrepreneurs being one of the factors that prompted the US investors to enter the domestic market. "Romania is a country of considerable dimensions, second in the region in terms of population. It is very appealing in terms of the private equity industry, given the high number of Romanian private entrepreneurs," Daniel D'Aniello, co-founder and general manager of Carlyle Group, told ZF. As a rule, private equity investors become minority shareholders in private companies with a high growth potential. In Romania, Carlyle believes that there are many emerging market-type opportunities. "Romania joined the EU at a later date than Poland and Hungary and therefore there are many opportunities we would like to take advantage of," said D'Aniello. The US company does not rule out the possibility of opening an office in Romania.
