Alka, one of the leading wafers and biscuits producers on the Romanian market, estimates business worth over 33 million euros for this year, a 35% increase against last year.
"We are counting on bringing new products onto the market, on (...) packaging and on product quality to sustain the upward trend seen in the last few years. Therefore, we are expecting the turnover for the whole of 2006 to grow by approximately 35% against last year," said Amir Krenzia, general manager of Alka. Six months into the year, the company estimated a 20% sales growth pace, less than the objective set for the whole year. The group reported a turnover worth 24.6 million euros last year, a 20% increase against the 20.5 million euros seen in the previous year.
Alka strengthened its position on the premium segment last year, by launching a special packaging, following an investment in new production and packaging technologies worth 2.5 million euros. Officials of the group estimated the advertising budget for the new products at 1 million euros.
