Atlantic Restaurant Systems company, controlled by businessmen Eli Davidai and Marius Nasta, which operates the Burger King franchise in Romania, has announced plans to open four new restaurants this year, compared with estimates in April that targeted just four restaurants per year. "We've opened a restaurant in the food court area of the new Liberty Center shopping complex. We are going to open three more in Bucharest, in Plaza Romania shopping centre, Cora Lujerului and Cora Pantelimon, and the first restaurant outside Bucharest, in Carrefour Constanta, because of the good results we've registered so far," Remus Tiuca, general manager of Burger King Romania, told ZF. Since April, the company has opened restaurants in Baneasa Shopping City in northern Bucharest and in City Mall, located in southern Bucharest, meaning the company will reach seven restaurants by yearend. A few months ago, Burger King said it would launch another six restaurants in major cities in Romania, but this plan is also likely to be exceeded. The company has not disclosed the financial results it reached in the first eight months after it entered the Romanian market, but only said they were in line with initial projections. The average number of clients coming to Burger King restaurants stands at 1,000 people per day.
