BT Asigurari (BT Insurance), a member of financial group Banca Transilvania underwrote gross premiums worth 67 million RON (19.8 million euros), up 49% on last year. The increase in gross underwritten premiums in the first quarter of 2007 consolidates the upward trend witnessed by the company as a whole. The insurance company has also strengthened its territorial presence both through its sales force (which exceeded 11,000 affiliates in our sales affiliate structure), as well as through the number of territorial offices," Constantin Jeican, general manager of BT Asigurari, told ZF. The BT Asigurari network includes 248 agents and offices, as well as another 28 offices opened in partnership with Banca Transilvania. "In terms of territorial expansion, we will dedicate this year to increasing the quality of our sales and consolidating local BT Asigurari agencies," added Jeican. In the first three months of 2007, general insurance accounted for 97% and life insurance for 3% of the BT Asigurari's business.
