Increased investor activity on the Stock Exchange in July has brought more money into the accounts of brokers, who benefited from the higher volumes created by the new money on the market.

The value of stock market transactions last month came to 91.8 million euros, 35% higher month-on-month.

The lifting of the holding threshold in SIFs, a move long awaited by investors, made a decisive contribution to the higher trading volumes, given that SIFs accounted for almost half of total market volumes.

Carpatica Invest, the brokerage belonging to Banca Comerciala Carpatica of Sibiu, managed to rank first among the top brokers on the Stock Exchange in July.

Carpatica Invest enjoyed spectacular growth last month with a volume of almost 13.5 million euros (48 million RON), up from 5.4 million euros in June.

This year has seen Carpatica invest in new offices and attract new customers. The positive direction of the market also gave a boost to the activity of existing customers and raised volumes.

After remaining among the top ten players for the first seven months of the year, Carpatica climbed to fifth position and a market share of 4.54%.

Second and third positions for July were held by Raiffeisen Capital (11.7 million euros in transactions and 6.4% market share) and ING Securities (11.3 million euros in transactions and 6.18% market share) brokerages respectively, both of which known to deal mainly with foreign investors. During the first seven months Raiffeisen continued to hold second position with a volume of 148.9 million euros.

ING Securities remained on top, with 158 million euros in transactions and a market share of 7.8% over the first seven months.

Fourth place for July was held by GM Invest, with a transaction volume of almost 10 million euros (35.4 million RON). Since the beginning of the year, GM Invest has handled a total volume of 38.6 million euros. BT Securities, the brokerage arm of Banca Transilvania, descended to fifth position in July, with a volume of 9.6 million euros (34.3 million RON).

Like Carpatica, BT Securities mainly works with domestic investors, who were more active in July.

SSIF Broker Cluj, the only broker listed on the stock exchange, came in seventh with 6.6 million euros (23.6 million RON) in volume. It ranks fourth overall for the first seven months this year (105 million euros and 5.2% market share).
