Bombardier considers exporting to Turkey or Hungary

04.07.2007, 18:19 6

Swedish constructor Bombardier, which registered sales of 4 billion dollars in the first quarter of this year, could extend its partnership with Electroputere Craiova, where underground trains delivered to Metrorex are currently assembled, with a view to launching exports in Turkey or Hungary. "We are open to a potential collaboration with Electroputere in order to conduct exports to Turkey or Hungary. It all depends on the need expressed by the market and on the development of the infrastructure in the region," stated Jean Berge, marketing vice-president of Mainline&Metros Bombardier. Bombardier is already assembling underground trains delivered to Metrorex, in Craiova, with company representatives saying a potential investment in Electroputere also depends on how the company progresses after its privatisation process is completed. The Saudi group Al Arrab won the tender to acquire Electroputere Craiova, with an estimated bid of 120 million euros.
