Bermas Suceava posts 17bn lei profit for 1999

Net profit posted by Bermas brewery from Suceava on 1999 amounted to 17.06 billion lei, with gross profit standing at 27.20 billion lei, shows the company in a release. The financial results approved by the General Assembly of Shareholders on March 24 indicate a turnover amounting to 186.80 billion lei, a value registered against the background of total revenues standing at 214.86 billion lei and total expenditures of 186.80 billion lei. According to the Assembly's report, the company has debts that amount to 42.12 billion lei. "Most of the debt is represented by the total value of dividends (12.05 billion lei) that are to be offered to shareholders registered before the reference date - that is March 17. Bermas' debt to various banks amounts to 10.41 billion lei, while the unpaid amounts to different suppliers stand at 4.83 billion lei," Elena Anisoi, the company's business manager, told Ziarul Financiar. Net dividends the company will grant to its shareholders starting May 15, are 1,143 lei/share, significantly higher than the previous year, when they represented only 494.77 lei/share. At that time however, the company's net profit stood at 9.12 billion lei, almost half the level posted for 1999. Turnover registered the Suceava-based company in 1998 amounted to 64.25 billion lei. However, says Constantin Gatej, general manager of Bermas, the economic situation of the company is quite good, Bermas currently having raw material stocks worth 24.43 billion lei, enough to cover the company's activity until September. The estimated revenues and expenditures budget for this year, approved during the same assembly of shareholders mentions net profit of 28.37 billion lei for a turnover standing at 186.80 billion lei. Total revenues will amount to 214.86 billion lei and total expenditures will stand at 177.03 billion lei. This year, the company also plans to make investments worth a total of 13.80 billion lei. The most important objectives are to purchase a new KEG line estimated at 3.30 billion lei and a distribution installation of bottled beer valued at 3.80 billion lei. Bermas Suceava has a share capital amounting to 66.44 billion lei, divided into shares with a nominal value standing at 7,000 lei. Significant shareholders include Bermas' employees association - with 20.8 percent of the capital, and the State Ownership Fund with 24.98 percent, the rest of shares being divided among small investors.
