Belgian packaging manufacturer VPK, which holds 26 plants in 12 countries, has invested 15 million euros in a plant in Salonta, Bihor county, which will generate 200 jobs. The plant in Salonta, which will process and manufacture corrugated cardboard packaging, is built on a 15,600 square-metre area and will become operational in December. "This is the group's first plant on the Romanian market (...), with a total area of around 25,000 square metres," said Bart Dobbelaere, general manager of the Romanian branch. The overall production capacity will be of 30,000 tonnes of corrugated cardboard per year, but the actual output in the first year of operations will be smaller. "We are hoping to reach this level in a very short time. We will deliver around half of our production to the FMCG industry, and the rest to the other industries," he added.
