Banca Romaneasca pays 11% for 6-month deposits in RON

01.05.2008, 20:33 10

Greek-based Banca Romaneasca pays interest rates that range from 10% to 11% for deposits in RON in order to persuade their clients to save more. The new interest rate levels are on average two percentage points above the previous ones. The bank guarantees the level of the interest rate for the entire duration of the deposit, therefore the client is able to calculate from the very start what gains they will derive from this deposit. The biggest interest rate (11% a year) is paid for six-month deposits. For one-year deposits, the bank pays an interest rate of 10.75%. In the last few weeks, several banks have launched offers for deposits in RON with interest rates of over 10% a year, but these usually have to be new deposits.
