Aerostat Bacau and Romaero Bucharest have already become targets for Aero Vodochody, the Czech company that has already won the tender for Avioane Craiova and is on the shortlist for the privatisation of aircraft producer IAR Ghimbav, writes Business Magazin weekly. Jana Studnickova, together with several other members of Aero Vodochody's board, has over the last few weeks travelled extensively between Prague, Warsaw and Bucharest. Aero Vodochody is now fighting in the tender for IAR Ghimbav and is also in the race for to acquire PZL Swidnik, a Polish helicopter producer. The company also has other acquisition targets, especially in Romania, Poland and other countries in the region, with Penta Investment, the investment group that bought Aero Vodochody in 2006, aiming to propel the company among the top aircraft and spare parts producers in Europe. Since 2006, when it bought Aero Vodochody, Penta has put together an aggressive acquisitions programme, with the aim of turning the Czech producer into the spearhead of an aeronautical group with a presence in the whole of Europe, in Central & Eastern Europe, as well as wherever possible in the West.
