Automobile Dacia unable to meet demand for Logan MCV

26.09.2007, 19:22 9

The waiting period for a Logan MCV, which is designed for emerging markets, now stands at more than three months for Western European countries and could be as long as five months, which is similar to the waiting period for a customised premium vehicle. Whereas in Eastern Europe the highest demand is for the sedan model, most orders in the West are for the MCV model (station wagon), which was launched at the beginning of this year. Sales of the model in the first eight months of the year accounted for 62% of the over 50,000 units sold on these markets. "It's true that the waiting period is quite long at present. We have orders beyond our estimates for the MCV model, and it takes over 3 months from the initial order until the vehicle is delivered," said Constantin Stroe, vice-president of Automobile Dacia. The high demand for the station wagon, which is produced in Mioveni, culminated this summer in a failure to meet orders and has generated delays of around five months for deliveries.
