Altex launches second tactical brand, after Media Galaxy

22.11.2007, 18:25 20

Altex, the largest electronics and home appliances retailer on the market, estimates it will reach a 30 million-euro turnover in 2008; through its new retail network Digit'Up, which specialises in IT&C, and in the photo & video segment. "For 2008, depending on how the network develops, we intend for Digit'Up to generate 10% of the group's turnover, i.e. around 30 million euros," said Cristi Camara, sales manager of Digit'Up. Digit'Up is the third retail concept introduced by the Altex group, after the Altex Megastore and Media Galaxy networks, and currently consists of 8 stores with an average sales area of 100 square metres. "The brand will be developed in the large urban areas, and we want to implement Digit'Up in areas that Altex and Media Galaxy cannot reach or cannot fulfil the needs of the consumers," said Dan Ostahie, president of Altex. The company has announced it will expand its network within the next three to five years, to 100 stores, 10 of which will be opened in Bucharest, 2 in cities with over 100,000 inhabitants and the rest in towns with at least 30,000 inhabitants. "We will develop the network throughout the country, and by next year, we intend to reach 50 stores. Digit'Up anticipates the needs, which will appear in time, just as Media Galaxy now covers the need for large sales areas," said Ostahie.
