AIG Romania, the local general insurance division of the largest insurance group worldwide, American International Group, closed last year with turnover worth 94.3 million RON (28.2 million euros), according to the company's preliminary data. The company's gross underwritten premiums climbed 20% against 2006, with the company lacking motor insurance services, a segment that is the growth driver for many companies on the market. "This was a normal increase, in line with the market increase. It was based on general insurance, health and accident insurance, as well as financial insurance, such as D&O insurance and bank insurance," Mihnea Tobescu, general manager of the company, told ZF.
