ABN Amro: We are working on rebranding process with RBS

08.07.2008, 20:20 8

ABN Amro Romania is undergoing a rebranding process, after last autumn, the Dutch group that the bank is a part of, was taken over by a consortium consisting of the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), Fortis and Banco Santander, with the local branch becoming a part of UK-based RBS. "We will change our name to RBS, we are currently working on it," Peter Weiss, country executive of ABN Amro told ZF. Weiss, which will remain head of ABN's local operations after the takeover by RBS, says the British have not made changes in the bank yet. "RBS managers come to Romania regularly to discuss the business and to assess local operations. They are very pleased with our work, and have not operated any changes. It is too early for that," says Weiss. For RBS, the second largest bank in the UK, Romania is one of its smallest markets, alongside Russia. However, the business growth in Romania is satisfactory, Sir Fred Goodwin, CEO of the British giant has said recently. Through its takeover of ABN Amro, RBS becomes the first UK bank to enter the Romanian market.
