16-fold profit increase for Automatica

Automatica Bucharest, a manufacturer of equipment for the electronic and electrical industry last year posted a net profit of 7.5 million RON (2.08 million euros), a 16.5-fold increase in euros compared with the profit seen in 2004. Turnover stood at 26.6 million RON (7.34 million euros) last year, 11.8% more than in the previous year. Total revenues saw a bigger increase, of 22%, reaching 33.4 million RON (9.23 million euros), whereas total expenses went down by 3.6% in euros, to 25.7 million RON (7.1 million euros). The drop in expenses was made possible due to the creation of new products, with a higher degree of technicality. Over 90% of the company''s turnover results from the sale of products on the domestic market, their major clients being the 2nd Reactor of the Nuclear Plant in Cernavoda, with an approximate 50% share of the sales, Societatea Nationala a Lignitului Oltenia (the National Lignite Company Oltenia), with some 20%, Termoelectrica, Electrica and others. According to company data, Automatica covers 19% of the domestic market for the electronic and electrical industry, and its main competitors are ABB, Siemens, Moeller, Electroalfa Botosani and Eurosic Bucharest.
