Azomures, the Targu-Mures-based chemical fertilisers producer, posted a net profit of some 1.43 million euros (4.98 million RON) in the fourth quarter of last year, 50.5% higher than the profit made in the fourth quarter of 2005, according to preliminary data sent by the company to the Bucharest Stock Exchange. In the last quarter of 2006, the company posted a 67.58 million-euro (234.5 million RON) turnover, up 55.9% against the turnover seen during the same time of the previous year. The company did not, however, entirely offset the losses seen in the first nine months of the year, ending it with a 0.68 million-euro (2.42 million-RON) loss. In 2005, the company had a profit of almost 5 million euros (17.2 million RON). For this year, Azomures had budgeted a net profit worth 0.84 million euros (2.94 million RON). The companyes turnover for the whole year stood at 201 million euros (709 million RON), up by almost 6.3% against the 189 million-euro (684 million-RON) turnover in 2005. The company was affected by the heavy increase in the price of methane gas, its main raw material, last year.
